EMILY CHRISTENSEN, MSW, LGSW (she/her)

THERAPIST

(supervised by Tia Wilcek, LICSW)

If you’re looking to better understand why you think, feel, or respond the way you do, and how to navigate those feelings with more clarity and compassion, you’re not alone. Maybe you’re motivated for change and self-exploration but unsure where to begin, or you’re struggling with anxiety, overwhelm, or past experiences that continue to affect you, even when you feel like you “should be over it” by now. Taking the first step towards therapy is an act of self-compassion and a powerful investment in your well-being.

What can you expect in a therapy room with me?

I strive to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you can explore and accept all parts of yourself, including the ones that may feel difficult to face. My approach is warm, conversational, and grounded in the belief that mistakes are a natural and valuable part of growth. I hope to create an environment that encourages curiosity, honesty, and imperfection.

Depending on your goals and needs, our work together might involve learning coping skills, practicing how to sit with difficult emotions, exploring patterns and past experiences, or gaining a deeper understanding of yourself. I believe that each individual holds the power to overcome any obstacle and create meaningful change in their lives, therapy can simply help uncover and strengthen that inner ability.

Fun facts about me…

Outside of therapy, I enjoy creative outlets like painting, drawing, and making collages. I believe art can be a powerful tool for healing, inspiration, and self-expression, and I enjoy helping others connect with their own creativity. I’m also a big cat person and believe there’s something therapeutic about the peaceful, playful presence animals can bring into our lives.
