Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
In-Network Insurance: Metanoia Therapy bills your insurance directly. Copays and coinsurance payments due at time of your appointment. See accepted in-network insurances below.
Out-of-Network Insurance: In most cases, Metanoia Therapy will bill your insurance and accept payment directly from your insurance provider. In some rare cases, your insurance will require reimbursement payments sent to you and in these cases you will be responsible for full payment at time of service. Copays and coinsurance payments due at time of your appointment.
Full payment for service is due at the time of your appointment.
Self-Pay / Private Pay*
Many individuals chose to privately pay for therapy sessions so that they can remain in control of their mental health care. If you do not have insurance or you choose not to use your insurance private pay is the perfect option for you.
People choose not to use their insurance for a variety of reasons:
No Diagnosis Needed: insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis in order for your sessions to be reimbursed. The problem with this is that not everyone dealing with life challenges will meet the requirements of a diagnosis.
No Session Limit: when involving your insurance provider, they determine the number of sessions that are eligible for reimbursement.
Tele-Therapy Option: there are still a few insurances that do not cover teletherapy sessions.
Increased Confidentiality: using your insurance for payment of your sessions provides your insurance provider access to request to review your mental health records in order to determine the necessity of your care, as well as determining the number of sessions allowed.
Insurance OPTIONS
In-Network:
Metanoia Therapy is in-network with the following insurance providers:
Medicaid / MN Medical Assistance (MA) / MHCP
Aetna
Optum (United Healthcare, UMR, Medica) *** [Interns & Provisionally Licensed Providers are NOT an eligible provider for this insurance]
UCare
Blue Cross Blue Shield [we are not in network with the Allina plans]
HealthPartners
Hennepin Health
Cigna
Medicare *** [Interns & Provisionally Licensed Providers are NOT an eligible provider for this insurance]
You are responsible for payment of coinsurance/copay for the session, due at the time of the session.
Out-of-Network*:
Metanoia Therapy is able to accept out of network coverage with most insurances that we are not considered in-network with.
Most insurance plans have out-of-network benefits. Metanoia Therapy can assist with exploring your out-of-network benefits and you can contact your insurance provider to inquire about your benefit options.
Metanoia Therapy accepts out-of-network insurance from all eligible insurance providers. Whenever possible, Metanoia Therapy will submit the bill directly to your insurance provider for the out-of-network payment. In some instances, Metanoia Therapy will be unable to submit directly and you will be responsible for sending a receipt to your insurance for reimbursement. In either case, you will be responsible for the full amount of service.
Superbills: Metanoia Therapy will gladly give you the forms (a “Super Bill”) needed for you to file claims with your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Coverage for therapy and teletherapy varies according to a person’s plan and the insurance company.
Just like in-network coverage, using your out-of-network insurance coverage you acknowledge that your insurance company may contact Metanoia Therapy for more information regarding your services. You understand that any time you involve your insurance company, even for reimbursement through this special receipt, they can gain access to review all of your clinical records to determine if services are medically necessary.
Late Cancellation Policy
Once the appointment is scheduled, you will be expected to pay for it unless you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. If the session was missed without 24 hours’ notice, it will be invoiced using the late cancelation/no-show fee.
If you arrive more than 7 minutes late for a scheduled appointment, the appointment will be considered as “no show” and will need to be rescheduled. “No shows” for appointments will be invoiced using the late cancelation/no-show fee.
Please note that insurance will not cover late cancellation or no-show fees and you will be responsible for the entire fee on the date of the missed appointment.
*DISCLAIMER FOR GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE FOR CASH PAY & OUT OF NETWORK PATIENTS
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers are required to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. Make sure your health care provider gives you a GFE in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a GFE before you schedule an item or service. You have the right to receive a GFE for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
The GFE shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for services provided by Metanoia Therapy. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created. It does not take into account any reimbursement that you may receive as a result of out of network benefits.
The GFE does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. You may contact Tia Wilcek, Owner of Metanoia Therapy, to let her know the billed charges are higher than the Good Faith Estimate.
