Therapist

I am a therapist because I believe all people deserve wellness and seeking support should be seen as a strength, not a weakness. While I believe all people have what they need to feel well, sometimes we need someone to have our back, challenge us, and believe in us until we're ready to do so ourselves.

What can you expect in a therapy room with me?

I believe your experiences are your own and I do not claim to be an expert in any of them. I see it as my role to ask the right questions and help you find your own answers; to (re)write your own story. I want to make everyone feel comfortable, respected, and open when you're with me. I want to provide the time and space for everyone to be themselves, unapologetically. I also believe in the importance of being an anti-racist provider in a white-dominated profession, considering all aspects of someone’s life, and deconstructing therapy as an intervention so it can be used as prevention and a tool of empowerment. I would love to accompany people on the journey of realizing their power and true selves.

Fun facts about me:

Archaeology and ancient history was my first passion. I used to spend my summers in Greece, digging up ancient remains. My favorite site to work on was a small, seaside port town where we found lots of artifacts from the Bronze Age. One summer I was even fortunate to work at The Agora in Athens. Outside of work I enjoy walking my dogs, practicing yoga, reading, cooking, and watching movies. I enjoy spending time outside and last year I planted a bunch of pollinators and native plants in my yard; this year I'm moving on to growing food and seeing if I can get my dogs to paddle board with me.

“And I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.” --Kurt Vonnegut

Mindfulness may be one of therapist's favorite buzz words; but, I truly believe in taking the time to practice it. Life can be hard and the future unpredictable. However, we can try to be attentive to what's happening in the present. Even if just for a moment.
