metanoia celebrates 5 years!

As we celebrate our 5th anniversary at Metanoia Therapy, we reflect on the incredible journey we've had and the lives we've touched. From our humble beginnings as a single-therapist practice, we have grown into a robust team of seven dedicated professionals, each committed to helping our clients heal from trauma, manage anxiety, and navigate life's challenges.

Metanoia Therapy opened its doors in 2019 in White Bear Lake, and as our practice grew, we moved to a larger space in Vadnais Heights. This newer location has allowed us to expand our services and serve more individuals in our community. You can find us right next to Culvers.

Our team has completed nearly 10,000 therapy sessions, guiding just under 500 individuals on their healing journeys. From adolescent clients navigating the complex world of pre-teen and teenage years to adults facing trauma, anxiety, grief, and depression, our practice has become a beacon of hope for those seeking mental health support in Minnesota.

The Communities We Serve

At Metanoia Therapy, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming space for people from all walks of life. We have served clients from over 90 different cities within Minnesota, including Burnsville, Circle Pines, Cottage Grove, Forest Lake, Hugo, Lakeville, Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Stillwater, Vadnais Heights, and White Bear Lake. With the benefit and flexibility of online therapy, Metanoia Therapy has also served people in more rural areas of Minnesota including MN Counties: marshall, polk, carlton, pine, saint louis, lake, becker, grant, blue earth, le sueur, fairbault, winona, dakota, scott, wright, isanti, chisago, and sherburne.

Our diverse client base includes individuals from various backgrounds, identities, and experiences. No matter your identity, we strive to create a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

Our Specializations: Healing the MIND, BODY, & SPIRIT

At Metanoia Therapy, we understand that each client’s journey is unique, and we tailor our approach to meet the specific needs of those we serve. Our therapists bring deep expertise in areas that are crucial to fostering mental health and well-being, with a particular focus on trauma, complex trauma, relational wounds, depression, and anxiety.

Trauma is at the core of much of our work. Whether it’s a single traumatic event or the compounded effects of complex trauma from prolonged exposure to distressing situations, we know how deeply these experiences can affect every aspect of a person’s life. Our therapists utilize specialized interventions, such as EMDR, to help clients process these experiences, rebuild trust in relationships, and regain control over their lives.

Depression and anxiety are also common struggles that many of our clients face. These conditions can be overwhelming, often leading to feelings of hopelessness, chronic stress, and difficulty functioning in daily life. Our team is dedicated to helping clients navigate these challenges, using evidence-based therapies that address both the emotional and physical manifestations of these conditions. By providing a safe space for clients to explore their emotions, we work together to find strategies that lead to relief and healing.

We are also deeply committed to supporting clients with relational wounds—the deep emotional pain that arises from harmful or dysfunctional relationships. These wounds can leave lasting scars, making it difficult for individuals to trust others or form healthy connections. Through our work, we guide clients in healing these wounds, fostering self-compassion, and developing the skills needed for healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

At Metanoia Therapy, our goal is to provide comprehensive, compassionate care that addresses the full spectrum of our clients’ needs, empowering them to live healthier, more connected lives.

Supporting Adolescents and Teens

Working with adolescents and teens requires a delicate balance of providing a safe, confidential space for them to express their thoughts and emotions while also engaging in a collaborative approach that includes parents, schools, and other key support systems. At Metanoia Therapy, we prioritize building trust with our young clients, ensuring they feel secure in sharing their struggles without fear of judgment or breach of privacy.

We know that confidentiality is crucial in fostering this trust, as it allows teens to open up about their concerns and challenges in a way that might not be possible elsewhere. We also recognize the importance of a team-based approach in supporting the overall well-being of adolescents. With the client's consent, we actively work with parents, educators, and other professionals to create a unified support system that addresses the teen’s needs from multiple angles.

Our collaborative efforts might involve coordinating with school counselors to ensure the teen’s emotional and academic needs are met, or working closely with parents to provide them with tools and strategies to support their child at home. This integrative approach ensures that while the adolescent's right to privacy is respected, they also benefit from a strong network of support that works in harmony to promote their growth and well-being.

By maintaining this balance, we help adolescents navigate their challenges while empowering them to take an active role in their own mental health journey, ultimately leading to more sustainable and positive outcomes.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Metanoia Therapy

As we look to the future, we are excited to continue deepening our impact on the communities we serve. Our goal is to build even stronger connections with local schools, community organizations, and healthcare providers, ensuring that mental health support is accessible and integrated across various aspects of our clients’ lives.

Additionally, we plan to continue growing our team to meet the increasing demand for mental health services in the area. We aim to maintain our commitment to high-quality, personalized care while expanding our reach to help even more individuals in need.

We also look forward to increasing our community involvement through workshops, educational sessions, and outreach efforts that raise awareness about mental health and provide resources to those who may not yet be engaged in therapy.
