to ask or not to ask?
Do you have a hard time asking for what you want?
Do you struggle figuring out how strong or intensely you should make your request?
Do you find that you know you want something, but asking for it feels like your being ‘too much”. It leaves you wondering if you should even ask. Do you have the right to ask?
A lot of clients I see have a hard time figuring it out…and sometimes, so do I!
That’s why I love using the Interpersonal Effectiveness skill from DBT called ‘The Dime Game’. It gives us some helpful things to consider when we are asking for something from someone else (or when we need to say no to something… cause that’s hard too!).
